Christians are boldly spreading God’s Word because of your partnership
About 15 years ago, Mahadev came to faith in Christ and grew in God’s Word through a Bible League Bible study in Nepal. Now, the 38-year-old married father of two is reaching others in the same way. But it’s a challenge. Only about 1% of people in Nepal follow Jesus. The rest mostly follow Hinduism. And an anti-conversion law enacted a few years ago has only made life scarier for the very few Christians there. When Mahadev came to Christ, his friends and family hated him for converting to a “foreign” religion.
Mahadev’s calling
He notes, “When I preached in the village, people threatened to kill me and make me an outcast from the village community.” But he didn’t let that stop him from sharing the Good News. Mahadev really identified with the Acts 9 story of Saul’s conversion on the Damascus road. He saw how God used a former persecutor of Christians to expand His Church.
Mahadev explains, “He went from being a persecutor of God’s people to becoming a minister of the Gospel who planted many churches. Paul’s life inspired me greatly. Like him, I will also do a similar ministry. This is my calling.”
Proclaiming the Gospel
With the help of friends like you, Mahadev has been able to follow God’s calling in his life. After attending Bible League’s Church Planter Training, he began proclaiming the Good News in his village and others nearby. He says, “I visited homes, some of whom opened their doors and their hearts to the Gospel.”
Today, there are 30 people in his church. Each week, they meet in a tin-roofed home, which Mahadev constructed. During their service, they use Bible League’s Bible studies. Thank God for how Mahadev is reaching his community—even amid persecution.
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NIV
Hundreds of thousands of believers like Mahadev in persecuted countries are boldly sharing the Gospel because of your gifts and prayers.
