You will receive a Welcome email shortly after submitting the payment due at registration. In that email, you will receive instructions on how to submit your completed forms (Emergency Contact Form, Acknowledgement of Physical Demand, and photo release form).

You will also be invited to two online meetings. For those who need assistance, the first meeting will guide you in how to complete your Visa application. The second virtual meeting will be a “meet and greet.” During that meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet your fellow travelers, including your host partners and Bible League staff members who will be joining you.

You can purchase your Visas for both countries after booking your flight from your state to Nairobi, Kenya.  The cost for both of these Visas is approximately $400.  Visas can be obtained at:

  1. www.etakenya.go.ke/en (Kenya)
  2. www.immigration.go.tz (Tanzania)

When traveling abroad, it is highly recommended that you visit https://wwwnc.cdc.gov and select the visiting country. As of August 23, 2024, the CDC does not have any requirements but does have several recommendations. Please visit the CDC’s website and consult with your primary care provider regarding which vaccinations you should obtain.

Vaccinations:

Tanzania, including Zanzibar - Traveler view | Travelers' Health | CDC

Please select Jomo Kenyatta International, Nairobi, Kenya (NBO) when booking your flight.

Considering that the flight duration to Kenya is at least 19 hours, you may need to leave on Thursday, May 22 to arrive in Nairobi on Saturday, May 24. You will need to schedule your return flight to the US on Saturday, May 31. Early to mid-morning is preferred.

In early March 2025, Maritza, the primary contact for this trip, will share her flight itinerary in the hopes that most of the travelers can get on the same flight or select a flight that arrives in and departs from Nairobi, Kenya, around the same time.

We are planning for 12 to 16 guests; this amount includes staff from the Bible League International office. There are only twelve spots available for purchase.

Our Kenya Field partners (Lillian, Louiza, and Barnish) will pick up all the travelers. You will meet the host team at the online “meet and greet” session that will take place weeks before the trip. Plus, they will be holding a large Bible League sign so that you can easily identify them after you go through customs and collect your luggage

Individuals will have their hotel rooms, and married couples will also have their room to share. We will stay at the following locations.

Hotel Name Country Number of Nights
Four Points Sheraton Hotel. Kenya 2
Hotel Vannah Kenya 3
Kifa Best Point Hotel Tanzania 1
Serengeti National Park - Luxury Tent Camps Tanzania 1

We are still working on the details for the week, but most days will start at 7 am and end at 9 pm.

Yes, we will be staying at the Serengeti National Park (https://www.serengeti.com/). “Serengeti National Park is a World Heritage Site teeming with wildlife: over 2 million ungulates, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and 500 bird species inhabit an area close to 15,000 square kilometers [nearly 5,800 square miles] in size. Join us on a safari and explore the endless Serengeti plains dotted with trees and kopjes from which majestic lions control their kingdom; gaze upon the Great Migration in awe or find an elusive leopard in a riverine forest.”

This trip is designed to give you a better idea of how your partnership with Bible League International is assisting the under-sourced Church with Bibles, Bible study materials, and training. It does not include an opportunity for a hands-on, work-related project. However, you will get to know church planters and local believers and hear directly from them on how God is using Bible League’s evangelism and discipleship programs to transform lives and communities.

In Kenya and Tanzania, English is one of the primary languages and our host team is fluent in English. However, do not worry, there will be several host team members who will be translating from the local language to English.

We have developed a physical demand tier description to help our friends understand what could be expected. We have designated the Kenya and Tanzania trip to be a moderate level—specifically because one or two of the hotels we will be staying at do not have an elevator, so you can expect to go up and down stairs. In addition, there will be long and potentially bumpy road trips in the van that may cause motion sickness. Heat and/or humidity may also be present.

Depending on your goals, we recommend no more than $150 US dollars be exchanged into the local currency.  Keep in mind that most of our visit will be in Kenya.

The shilling (KES) is the currency of Kenya. As of September 4, 2024, 1 USD is 128.74 Kenya Shilling.

The shilling (TZS) is Tanzania's currency.  As of September 4, 2024, 1 USD is 2720 Tanzanian Shilling.

We recommend International Travel Medical Insurance via World Trips / Atlas International Travel Insurance – www.worldtrips.com. In addition to the country of travel, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Birthday
  • State of Residence
  • Name
  • Citizenship
  • Passport Number is Optional

Pray for the host team and the group that will be traveling. Pray for unity, fellowship, and understanding. Work on ensuring you understand that the cultural experience will be different from what you are accustomed to.  We encourage you to embrace the experience and to be flexible as daily schedules may change.
