Ezequiel is an average 12-year-old boy. He lives in a small house in the Cristo Rey neighborhood in Managua, Nicaragua, with his parents and five siblings.
When he was a little boy, he had no respect for his parents, and already knew how to curse, swear, lie, and misbehave. One day, he was invited to participate in a Children’s Activity Day, a ministry outreach of Vida en Cristo church.
Ezequiel gladly participated because he enjoyed playing with other children and being away from his house. This children’s activity outreach uses Bible League’s Project Philip Bible studies for kids.
“I really like being in this Bible study,” says Ezequiel. “I could understand that Jesus loves me and gave His life for me.”
He knows firsthand how helpful the Bible study materials are. “It has been beneficial to have the books in my hands and to be able to write my thoughts about the questions,” he says. “I can better understand Jesus’ love for me and all people in the world.”
Ezequiel continues, “I changed the way I talk to my mom and dad. I stopped swearing and started to obey my parents. Now I feel happier.” His family is now coming to church, and they, too, learned about Jesus through the Project Philip Bible study program.
“God completely changed our lives,” Ezequiel beams. “We don’t quarrel anymore in the house. We’ve learned to express our love for each other.”
At 12, he’s already looking ahead to the future. “When I grow up, I want to become a police officer. I would like to take care of the people in my community.”
Today, however, he has a special request. “Please pray for all our neighbors in Cristo Rey. Many families need change. They need to know God. May God’s kingdom rule in our community, so that more people can experience the wonderful things that Jesus did for our family.”
